*An invitation to play is a pedagogical tool where an area is specially set up to inspire play with a particular set of learning goals in mind. It is usually based on the children’s skills and interests observed during the previous days. For example, if a child has been to the doctor, an invitation to play may be set up by providing a Doctor’s outfit, ‘sick’ teddy bear, face masks, gloves, clip chart and pens, stethoscope, thermometer, plasters and bandages.
